Shalfleet Church has been used for centuries for weddings, and is the perfect place to celebrate that special occasion. We would love to welcome you into the church and are able to help with some of the logistics on what is invariably quite a stressful and busy day. Whether it is sorting the flowers, advising on hymns and readings, setting up sound systems… not to mention arranging the reading of the banns and the payment of the church licence fees, we are here to help.
A list of the charges that you will face is given below:
Reading of Banns (plus wedding certificate) £33
Statutory Fee for wedding £441
Total fixed costs £474
Heating overhead* £70
Banns certificate £10
* The charge for heating is a contribution to the cost incurred by the church for keeping the church warm and dry and may, at the discretion of the PCC, be reduced during summer months.
Cheques should be made payable to the Parochial Church Council of Shalfleet prior to the date of the wedding, or directly to our bank as listed below:
Parochial Church Council of Shalfleet
Sort Code 30-95-99
If you would like to discuss a forthcoming wedding, or if there is any other advice you need, please contact the Churchwarden via our contact page and he will do what he can to help.
On a less happy note, Shalfleet Church is a peaceful and beautiful place for a funeral, and we are extremely lucky still to have room in our beautiful churchyard, unlike many similar churches on the Island. Charges for funerals are a little more complicated than for weddings, and are as follows:
Statutory expenses (one of the following)
Full Service at Crematorium (incl. £12 travel costs) £202
Service in church followed by Cremation (incl. £12 travel costs) £241
Service in church followed by burial £625
Service in church followed by burial of cremated remains £453
Burial only (no service) £331
Burial of cremated remains (no service) £170
Heating overhead* £70
* The charge for heating is a contribution to the cost incurred by the church for keeping the church warm and dry and may, at the discretion of the PCC, be reduced during summer months
To discuss either a wedding or a funeral, please contact the Churchwarden and he will be happy to help.
