As the dry weather continues, and everyone fusses about their gardens and how to keep the flowers alive, we might well spare a thought for the farming community who have to cope with these problems for real. Of course in the past, the livelihood of the whole parish depended on the harvest, and the traditional service for Rogation Sunday was more than just a jolly in the sunshine. In 2017, however, we are allowing ourselves the luxury of a relaxed Sunday service followed by some messing about with tractors and hens – with the focus of our prayers being on the quality of the biscuits and sausage rolls on offer rather than the fear of drought and a poor harvest.

Do join us for our Rogation Sunday service on May 21st – an invitation is here: Invitation … and tell friends and family too. We hope to have some nice weather, delicious refreshments, and a trip down memory lane into how villages like ours marked the seasons through the ages. And if it rains, we will be in the Village Hall!
