Many thanks to all who helped make our Harvest Festival such a jolly occasion! It was lovely to see so many harvesters in church, led by Shirley Laird on her new buggy, towing grandchildren and visiting Spanish children in her wake. The churchwarden couldn’t resist having a little go too.

The church looked beautiful, and we enjoyed delicious home made bread and cheese after the service, washed down with cider, followed by two of Maureen’s wonderful cakes.

One of the lovely things about our church is the way so many people, quietly and without fuss, put themselves out to keep this ancient building alive at the heart of our village. Rhod was almost trampled into the ground as he lay on the path, finishing off the weeding, and as a result yesterday’s wedding of Steve and Jennie could take place against the backdrop of a smart, almost white gravel path up to the main gate. Tony was sending instructions by email from his winter break in Gozo to help us get the new microphones up and running. Maureen was baking in advance, knowing she would be away for Harvest Festival but fearing there would be a riot if there was no cake! Diana and Chloe were in church for hours, decorating, cleaning, and making it all look so lovely. And Val, gracious and caring as she guides us through the interregnum, was found, long after the service had ended, washing up the glasses in the Village Hall when we thought she had gone home.

Aren’t we lucky, and thank you to one and all.
