We were absolutely delighted to welcome Cantus Vesperi, led by the amazing Stuart Mckerracher, to Shalfleet on the first Sunday after Easter for a service of choral Evensong. We were treated to a real feast, with Aichinger’s Regina coeli laetare to start the service, followed by Preces and Responses composed by Diletsky, Stanford’s setting of Psalm 150, Gibbon’s Short Service canticles and the anthem, This Joyful Eastertide by Wood. The service ended with Kastalsky’s Christ is risen.

The church was absolutely full, and we were treated to a wonderful array of nibbles, washed down by wine and hot punch, courtesy of Henry and Miranda Blacksell.
We look forward to the next service with Cantus Vesperi which will be on October 30th at 5pm. Be sure to have it in your diary!
