Many thanks to all who helped with our lovely Mothering Sunday service in church. The flowers were beautiful and expertly distributed on the day by our young team. And no sooner are the daffs in bloom than the weather men tell us to prepare once more for snow!

Mothering Sunday is an ancient festival that commemorates a time when villagers would return to their ‘mother church’, either the cathedral or perhaps their home parish if they were living and working away from home. This idea of a parish being part of a wider family is quite appropriate for us today, as we prepare to join our 4 local churches (Shalfleet, Calbourne, Thorley and Newtown) with the 4 over the hill (Brook, Mottistone, Brighstone and Shorwell), and it is appropriate that Bishop Christopher is coming to take our service on Sunday (18th March) to see how we are getting on.

In the meantime, snow or no snow, we look forward to the Spring and the task ahead of tidying up the churchyard after the winter.
